PJ Kim won first place in the HBS Public Speaking Contest in 2006 after also winning in 2005. He subsequently delivered the HBS Class Day speech during graduation. PJ ended up not accepting any of his job offers and decided to run an anti-poverty nonprofit program in New York City to help low income families receive tax credits, nutritional assistance, health insurance, and financial and legal counseling, then he ran unsuccessfully for New York City Council in 2009 to represent Lower Manhattan (www.PJKIM.com). He then served as the Executive Director of the Drum Major Institute for Public Policy and as the CEO of New York Needs You, a nonprofit whose mission is to help New Yorkers who are first in their family to attend college and community college to achieve their academic and career ambitions (www.newyorkneedsyou.org). He definitely hoards cookies whenever he can.
