“Confidence is a Beautiful Thing”
It’s always impressive to watch someone doing something with confidence.
My area of expertise is oral communication, public speaking and presentation skills. So this tip is about the impact of confidence on speaking.
It is important to note that confidence alone is not suffice. I have witnessed people who were confident speakers and only spit out words. Their impact was less than impressive. You have to be deliberate and leverage the mechanics of speaking.
Another thing to consider is that confidence isn’t achieved overnight. You learned your speaking anxiety over a long period of time. Confidence will take time, patience and perseverance.
While you may not possess confidence initially starting out you are able to generate the perception of confidence that will ultimately lead you to being confident.
Confidence, whether real or perceived can be a powerful credential when paired with good speaking skills. I have seen many speakers do this extremely well. So much so that it is difficult for the audience to differentiate perception from reality.
Put you energy into creating the perception of confidence and the real thing will follow suit.
