What causes social anxiety?
1) Negative thoughts (become automatic, takes a long time and effort to change, can be done via re-programming)
2) Lack of social skills (avoiding social situations, not getting enough social practice and not knowing communication techniques, EXPOSURE).
3) The fear of feelings of anxiety (suppressing anxiety, trying to make it go away — takes a lot of energy) The fear of anxious feelings vs fear of social situations and people
How to Overcome Social Anxiety:
This technique is based on mindful meditation. Instead of trying to suppress our feelings of anxiety and try to make them go away, we embrace them and ask for more. This method has helped me personally the most out of all the other techniques I’ve tried, I really hope it helps you guys out as well, let me know how it goes!
