If you are sitting for exam now or have faced one in past, irrespective of what grades you get, irrespective , if you have passed or failed, irrespective of what your teachers and parents think about you, you have already learnt something worth. Else you would not be expected to sit for that exam.
Now they say ‘exam’ is the best way to judge your calibre or how deep is your umderstanding , but I can say from my experience it’s not.
