Veteran Suicide 911 Call

Is a Keynote by Next Week Possible? Find Out How.

The following recording contains audio content that some listeners will find distressing. This is the 911 call of my son’s suicide. What you will hear is a loved one of my son’s pain and agony. Forever traumatized. As much as it pains me to make this public I’m doing it to bring awareness to the more then 22 Veterans a day that have taken their lives. That’s one suicide every 65 minutes!!!!That is over 104,000 since the war in Iraq began!!! We need change and we need it now!!!!

While Patrick was in the Army he became the victim of a vicious assault. Naturally he became sad about it. A NORMAL REACTION TO THE SITUATION. With NO history of psychiatric illness his doctor prescribed him Zoloft. It was something he didn’t want to take. He had never taken psychotropic drugs before. After taking Zoloft as prescribed he attempted suicide the first time in his life. He was hospitalized for less than a week and discharged with instructions to continue taking Zoloft. He continued to get depressed and complained of not being able to sleep and he was experiencing a buzzing sensation in his head. He wanted off of Zoloft and talked to the doctor about what he was experiencing. The doctor told him he needed to give Zoloft more time to work. He was told insomnia and brain zaps are common side effects that should diminish in time. The doctor then prescribed him Ambien to take for sleep. Some weeks passed and he continued to worsen. He attempted suicide again. This time going into the woods with ligature to hang himself. The police and K-9’s found him before he did anything. The police handed him over to the MP’s and he was back in his barracks alone within hours. The police nor the MP’s sought any medical attention for him. The following week the Army started a medical discharge. He went to the VA with a follow-up appointment and even though the doctor was aware of his suicide attempts he told Patrick he still needed to give Zoloft more time to work. Shortly after Patrick started taking Zoloft he became a frequent caller of the Veteran Suicide Hotline speaking most of the time with Maureen. On October 28th 2014 around 2:00 a.m. he placed his last call with Maureen speaking to her 42 min. She will not discuss what he talked about but she did know his history and didn’t call the police for a welfare check. Patrick was found alone hanging in his closet around 5:30 p.m. October 28th. by his girlfriend. Patrick should have never been prescribed Zoloft. Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). None of which he had. The FDA requires all antidepressants, including sertraline (Zoloft), to carry a black box warning stating that antidepressants may increase the risk of suicide in persons younger than 25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This warning is based on statistical analyses conducted by two independent groups of FDA experts that found a twofold increase of suicidal ideation and behavior in children and adolescents, and a 1.5-fold increase of suicidal behavior in the 18–24 age group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Patrick was only 19 years old. He was in the 18-24 age group!!!!!!!!! After taking Zoloft less than a week and attempting suicide why did the doctor not discontinue Zoloft!!!!!!!!! Zoloft and Ambien have a drug interaction warning. sertraline ↔ zolpidem, Applies to: Zoloft (sertraline), Ambien (zolpidem). Using sertraline together with zolpidem may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor. MY SON PATRICK IS A VICTIM OF ANTIDEPRESSANT INDUCED SUICIDE!!!!!!
